Meeting Our Community's Needs

The school district in which Promise is located serves families who are overwhelmingly Latino and live below the poverty line. Too often, bilingual children are misdiagnosed as having ELL-related (English Language Learning) issues when in reality they may be struggling with a learning disability. Promise's Bilingual Program serves Spanish-speaking children with learning disabilities to ensure students are accurately diagnosed and that their families are provided culturally sensitive support. Promise is working to create systems-wide change for the educators, administrators, and clinicians that support these children.

Expanding Our Impact

In order to further broaden our impact and develop scalable solutions, Promise is partnering with the NYC Department of Education. This collaboration helps us reach more children in need, and also ensures that students more consistently receive the supports they need from the school.
